Dieting Translated – Lazy?

“We don’t have the money and time to eat well”

While cash can be an issue given the world we live in today here are some ideas to increase our health long term.

Habits for a healthy diet:
1. Cottage cheese, particularly fat free or 1% can give you a full meal for just $2.
2. Farmers markets, in season foods are quantifiable cheaper than in the super market, avoid off season fruits + veggies
3. Vitamins on sale. To make our lives a bit easier pick up a generic brand on sale. No harm in going low end as it’s better than having a deficiency.
4. Sun. On lunch breaks try to catch a few rays, if you are prone to sunburn make it light but it’s better than sitting at your desk all day.
5. Green tea. Instead of those coffees we’ll try to brak the bad habit and replace it with a great one.

To be honest we all make similar excuses to avoid doing the above. We “need” or morning coffee. We “need” everything we eat to be flavorful. We “need” to eat specific types of fruits and vegetables. It’s all an excuse.

As mentioned in a prior article, change is slow. At least the ones that stick. Once that habit is engrained it creates forward momentum. In fact we can all train not only our bodies but our minds as well to slowly but surely adapt to “bad tasting foods” or “tea’s lower caffeine potency”. Some extreme examples can include eating canned vegetables without microwaves, eating cottage cheese out of the container, having nothing but a gallon of water and tea for liquids and sleeping exactly 8 hours a day for 80 days straight.

As you can see there has been no mention of exact meal plans just yet. We’ll separate that out in due time. Step one in life is the same for everything.

We are what we do, lets change our habits.
